Aluminium being a relatively soft material actually generates a lot of friction when hitting things like rock/rough surfaces, its quite "sticky". Probably worse than some plastics. If they wanted to do this "low friction sliding thing", steel might be a better choice. A lot of plastics are also fairly soft, so will also grip due to deformation, but unlike ally, some plastics are self lubricating

OMG lol... that frame is not even remotely rated for a DC fork, that with the 24" wheel and going from the stock 75mm fork to 180mm or what ever on an "adventure x frame" means you would be putting major stress on the head tube if you did anything bigger then jumping a curb...
